Six teams made it out of the gruelling group stage, with White Rabbit Gaming ending in first place, Bravado Gaming in second place, and Goliath Gaming in third place. The six teams then entered the playoffs stage according to their group placement.
The double-elimination playoffs bracket for ESEA Season 40 Main Division South Africa didn’t disappoint. In the playoffs, we saw Goliath Gaming’s squad well and truly wake up. Their first win was due to a forfeit from ATK Academy but they then proceeded to beat Bravado Gaming 2-1 and swept VYBN with a convincing 2-0 win to make it to the grand finals.
Despite getting 2-0’ed by Goliath Gaming, VYBN bounced back against DNMK. While DNMK took the first map, Mirage, with a 16-10 scoreline, VYBN managed to win 16-9 on both Nuke and Inferno to claim their spot in the grand finals.
